Put God’s Word on your lock screen

The Daily Verse widget and the lock-screen verse wallpaper show Scripture on your phone before you open anything — when you wake up, when you check the time, when the day is heavy. The widget lives on your home screen and (on supported Android versions) on the lock screen, and it turns over morning, midday, afternoon and evening with the same verses the Prayer Dome app and notifications use.

Design your verse card

Choose a theme and the card appears exactly like this on your phone — the preview below is the same layout the Android widget renders.

Showing today’s verse for this hour.

Keep one verse on your lock screen

The widget follows the daily rotation. Pick a verse from the library below to keep it in front of you until you unpin it.

Android

Add the widget in three taps

  1. Long-press an empty spot on your home screen and choose Widgets (on most phones it is also in the app drawer under “Widgets”).
  2. Find Prayer Dome in the list and touch Daily Verse. Drag it to the home screen, or press Add.
  3. Tap the card any time to open the app, or the refresh icon on the card to pull the verse for this hour without unlocking.

Lock screen: Android shows your widgets on the lock screen too on Android 15 QPR1 and later tablets and Android 16 QPR1 and later phones — open Settings → Display → Lock screen and turn on Show widgets on lock screen, then add Daily Verse there. On launchers and lock screens that support the keyguard widget category, the same card is offered automatically. No separate lock-screen widget exists to install: one card serves both.

iPhone

iPhone lock screen

  1. Open the wallpaper studio on this page and choose your iPhone model.
  2. Tap Download wallpaper (it saves to Photos), then Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos and pick it.
  3. Choose Set as Lock Screen. Leave the top of the image clear — the verse sits below the clock so nothing overlaps.

Want it to change every day? Keep Prayer Dome’s daily verse notifications switched on (below) — on iPhone they appear on the lock screen four times a day, and this page always regenerates the wallpaper with today’s verse.

Lock-screen wallpaper studio

Generate a verse wallpaper at your phone’s exact resolution — works on iPhone and Android, and needs no app install at all.

Choose your verse

Search the Prayer Dome verse library. The verse you pick is used in the wallpaper and can be pinned to the widget.

Daily verse notifications

Notifications carry the verse, the reference and Prayer Dome branding onto the lock screen even when the app is closed.

Questions members ask

Does the widget use battery or data?

The verse library is packaged inside the app, so the widget reads Scripture offline. It asks Android for four wake-ups a day — at midnight, 11:00, 14:00 and 18:00 — and does nothing in between. No background service runs and no data plan is used for the rotation.

Why does my lock screen show the widget only sometimes?

Android places widgets on the lock screen on Android 15 QPR1 and later tablets and Android 16 QPR1 and later phones, and shows them when the phone is charging or docked. On older Android versions and on iPhones, the wallpaper from this page is the way to keep the verse on the lock screen at all times.

Is the verse the same as in the app?

Yes. Every Prayer Dome surface — the website, the app, the service worker notifications and this widget — reads assets/pd-verse-data.js. The widget itself re-checks its packaged copy against that library’s checkpoints, and falls back to a fixed verse rather than show something the ministry did not publish.

Which translation is used?

Daily verses and widget notifications use the New International Version (NIV) with its NIV® copyright notice. The full Bible reader separately offers NIV, KJV, NLT, ESV and MSG. The selected edition is always shown with its own copyright line; the reader never substitutes a different translation when a provider is unavailable.

Can I keep one verse instead of the rotation?

Yes — search the library above, select the verse and press Pin the selected verse to my widget. The card then shows “Pinned verse” until you press Back to the daily rotation.
